ABOUT
Shalini Mohan is a Bangalore based musician who began her journey in music with the piano before turning her passion towards the bass. She also plays the trumpet and is a distinction diploma student of the London College of Music (Popular Vocals). She is a versatile performing and recording musician, adept in Funk, Indian Fusion, Progressive Rock and Jazz Fusion. She is also the vocalist/bassist and front man of her own band “Ginny & the Bottle”. Passionate about grooves and soulful solos, her influences include Bunny Brunel, Keith Peters, A R Rahman, Flea, Pino Palladino and Sting.

Biography
Shalini is well known in the industry and performs alongside Stalwarts like A R Rahman, Arjun Janya, Giridhar Udupa, Sean Rolden, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Kunal Ganjawala, Ananya Bhat and Vasundhara Das among others.
She is front-man, vocalist and bassist of the reputed Bangalore based band Ginny & the Bottle and is a core member of the International Carnatic Fusion act St. She is also part of the vibrant Afro/Hip-Hop band Zhane, and was recipient of the Best Bassist award at Hornbill 2018.
She has recorded on albums with several artists including Maati Baani and Vasundara Das, and also records Bass for many movies in many languages. She has worked with the Israel-Chennai based Business Class Refugees for their live shows, and was a core member of the Bangalore based folk rock band Lagori and the acoustic Folk band Allegro Fudge.
Shalini is the grand-niece of the world renowned Carnatic flautist T R Mahalingam (lovingly called Flute Mali) and has played several Carnatic concerts as a Bassist.
VENUES: Shalini has performed at various international and local events, including prestigious venues such as NH7 Weekender, Hornbill, MAD Festival, INK Conference, Harman, Echoes of Earth, Mumbai Lakme Fashion Week, Karnataka Utsavs such as the Hampi Utsav, Storm Festival, several televised programs in English as well as regional channels. She has performed in colleges and corporate events all over the country as well as featured in a Singapore based music show “Sutasi”.
